Steering Rover from NXT Programs

Here's a neat little project to build from nxtprograms.com.

It's a wired remote control car. The remote has touch and rotational sensors. The interesting part about it is the direct wiring between the motor on the remote and the steering motor on the car. Of course, you can always change it should you decide to build it yourself.

IRSeeker v2

Hitechnic has released a newer version of their IRSeeker, a sensor capable of detecting IR signals. In addition to their infrared ball, the second version will be able to sense Power Functions remotes, TV remotes, and an upcoming IRBall in sunny and bright places. Link to product page.

New HiTechnic Website

Don't know when this happened, but HiTechnic redesigned their website to look a bit more professional. 

NXT H&K MP5 Submachine Gun

I decided to experiment with rubberband shooting guns made with the NXT. Though the finished product is not nearly as good as I have seen in the past, I managed to make the gun able to shoot about 30 stretchy rubberbands in less than 2 seconds. The shape is based on the MP5 submachine gun (wikipedia). The video below doesn't very well show the rubberbands being shot out of the gun, because the camera is on the top.

NXT Programs Trailer Pull

The regularly updated nxtprograms.com created a new project that can lift shocking amounts of weight. The NXT Trailer Pull is a towing vehicle that can tow 20 times its own weight and 14 times on a 10% slope. Watch the video to see it in motion.

New NXTLog Challenge - Climate Connections

The exact title of the last First Lego League competition, NXTLog has decided to create a challenge based on the FLL. Basically, a robot that qualifies must be able to accomplish one of the missions of the 2008-09 season. The rules are here.
